Welcome to my blog! As a professional photographer for about 30 years now I've learned a lot and have always loved to talk photography with anyone interested, sometimes you may not be able to get me to stop. I got my first camera when I was about 18, and learned the basics, bought darkroom equipment and printed my own images in my bathroom, boy those were the days! I went to school at the Center for Creative studies in Downtown Detroit, and moved on to assisting automotive photographers. These guys were some of the best in the world. Some of the tricks they could do on one piece of 8x10 film would astonish you. I Learned all formats of cameras, from 8x10 view cameras to 35 mm. I learned all types of film processing like E-6, C-41, and black and white. Most importantly lighting! Learning how to light a car is one of the most difficult subjects to light because of it's reflective qualities. This opened the doors to photographing any subject I was interested in. Since then I have shot fashion, product, architectural, senior portraits, weddings, and families. I've learned to do timelaspe photography, some video, and often shoot background plates and 360 spherical panoramas for use in cgi car images. I've become a professional retoucher and work on projects for the big three automaker, and a few professional architectural photographers. And of course, I retouch all my own images. I wanted to start my blog to share my knowledge and maybe help others with a problem, or give them some tips, or maybe just get them excited about photography like me.
